I read this book in one sitting. There's no other way to do it. There's no way I could stop reading once I had started. If I had, I would have felt like I was betraying the author, and my country ! I was transported to the torturous Middle Eastern land, the unrelenting heat, sand, and ever-present danger that our soldiers traveled to, to protect our freedoms. The writing is full of emotion in places, but void of emotion in others. You can feel (to the extent possible) how the author felt, his sheer exhaustion, his mixed emotions, anger, despair, his sleep deprivation, and sprinkled in among the chaos, his very dry sense of humor. This raw, honest, graphic description of his tour of duty leaves you feeling that the everyday '1st-world problems' we encounter in our daily lives are totally insignificant, which, in reality, they are.Product details

MY SIX Micah E Appelman 9780557201686 Books Reviews
Appelman did a great job on this book. It is a publication of the diary he kept while we were there. He told us he was going to publish it. To me, it is a record of what we went through together. Yes, I was there. I am proud to be part of the 22 man brotherhood known as the First Platoon of the Outlaw Company. Thank you for writing this book, Appelman!
Page turner! I can't remember the last time I read a book for the second time and it was still a page turner. This book is not only wonderful, it's thought provoking. Memorial Day weekend is the perfect time to read this book. A great reminder to honor the men in women who fight for our freedom, grateful to those who are willing to tell about their journey, and never forget those who never came home.
